Biographie

Experimental particle physicist, specialised in neutrino sciences upon DPhil at the University of Oxford (2005-2001; UK). Scientist staff (CNRS since 2007; no teaching duties), currently affiliated to both the IJCLab (leading several research activities) and former director (2021-2014) of the Underground LNCA at the EdF Chooz Nuclear Reactor (France). I invented LiquidO (2012) and pioneered its derived Opaque Scintillation, and led major operations in Double Chooz, but also JUNO experiments. Scientific Career: Recognised expertise and experience in neutrino physics, detection (design and optimisation), instrumentation hardware (optical readout, electronics and scintillation systems), software (offline and DAQ), simulations (Geant4, etc.), reactor knowledge, high-precision energy control (invention of Multi Calorimetry in JUNO) and high-precision (absolute and relative) physics analyses, including complex multi-detector setups for permille systematics control. Currently, (co)spokesperson of the CLOUD (since 2023; 11 countries), SuperChooz (in exploration since 2022; EdF-CNRS), LPET-OTech (since 2021; CNRS-INSERM; ANR funded), AntiMatter-OTech (since 2020; 5 countries with nuclear industry; EIC-UKRI funded), Double Chooz (2007-2025, 7 countries, conceived and led the Total Neutron Capture technique), and LiquidO (since 2016, 11 countries, pioneer ). I founded most of the scientific consortia and collaborations I worked in, both fundamental science and innovation, including the SPMT (2015; hardware) and TransOceanic (2019; data analysis) groups within JUNO. Academically, I am also active in mentoring (2Marie Curie fellows and 15 postdocs), supervision (many PhD theses), scientific dissemination (including outreach articles, radio, or dedicated events), and international collaborations with institutions in the Americas, Asia and Europe. Scientific Scope: (1) Precision Neutrino Physics, spanning the measurements of θ13 (Double Chooz & SuperChooz), θ12, δm2, ∆m2 (JUNO & SuperChooz), Mass Ordering (multi-experiment with JUNO), and searches for New Physics (i.e. discovery potential) using fundamental symmetries, such as Unitarity and CPT (CLOUD & SuperChooz). (2) Novel Physics and AstroPhysics Experimental Explorations, mainly, with neutrinos (sun⊕reactors, accelerators, geoneutrinos, supernovae, etc.) and rare decay (β±β± and proton), including specialised radiation detection for collider calorimetry, Compton-cameras, etc. (3) OTech’s Innovation Projects Development with prospective applications in medical and nuclear industries (EdF-liaison), including specialised instrumentation technology (Kuraray-liaison); ongoing patent(s).
